Interfaith Meetings

During a visit with an inter-faith delegation to the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Istanbul, Dr Aref Nayed greeted His All Holiness, Bartholomew I, and gifted him copies of Kalam Research & Media's publications on theology and inter-faith.

They also visited the Syrian Orthodox community in Istanbul and met H.H. Archbishop Mor Filiksinos Yusuf Cetyn (pictured below with Dr Nayed) at the Meryemana Church in Beyoglu, Istanbul. The Archbishop explained the history of the Syrian Orthodox community in Turkey and the present state of the church in the country.

The meeting with the Ecumenical Patriarch, Bartholomew I, was Dr Nayed's third meeting with high ranking Christian leaders. In October 2008 Dr Nayed met His Grace the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams and in Novermber 2009, at the First Christian-Muslim Forum Seminar in Rome he met with H.H. Pope Benedict XVI, as part of the Common Word delegation.

  • Condemnation on Bombing of Coptic Church

Kalam Research and Media (KRM) expresses its full disgust and condemnation at the tragic attack on the innocent worshippers in the Saints Church in Alexandria, Egypt, on New Year's Eve. Such barbaric acts go against all the sacred religious, spiritual and legal traditions of the Abrahamic faiths. All men and women of faith need to stand firmly against such hatred and cowardly acts that aim at nothing but the igniting of sectarian and religious hatred. We pray for the families of those murdered and injured, and we urge Muslims and Christians and their respective institutions of authority in civil society to work in partnership and with renewed commitment to maintain and strengthen national and religious unity.    Statements from Muslim and Christian Leaders 1.
